■Multimedia
The following is the majority of my work from my Multimedia class
(1/10/05-3/21/05). This class revolved around teaching Avid Xpress Pro
on the Mac OS X, which is one of the most used video editors out there.
The majority of our projects involved making a cartoon. This was
difficult because Avid Xpress Pro is a video editor, not a cartoon
maker. But our teacher insisted with this approach because he felt the
difficulty would teach us Avid Xpress Pro faster. It seemed to have
worked, at least for me it did. The only Avid Xpress Pro feature that
lets you create things is Title Tool. Title Tool is... well, how should
I put it... it's like a watered down MS Paint! ^^;; And for something to
be a watered down MS Paint - that's pretty bad. Here's some global info
for these clips:
Original Format: 640x480, Quicktime MOV
(fun fact: 640x480 is the standard resolution for TV footage)
Compressed-for-net Format: 306x210, Windows Media player WMV
(for media player 9 and above)

■Project 2: Tutorial
for Kids
Assignment: Make a video using Title Tool and
transitions to teach kids how to do something. Put together an
animation in Adobe ImageReady with whatever images you want and
import it into this movie.
Length/size: 00:42, 1.18 MB
Background song: "Mog's theme" from Final Fantasy VII
Ramblings: This one is the cutest. :) I drew the
imported slides in Adobe Illustrator. Note that the sex change
part was the teacher's idea, to make the transition from guy to
girl make more sense. =P |

■Project 3:
Commercial
Assignment: Record yourself selling something. It
could be anything. Include other people if you wish. Use the
"Picture in picture (PIP)" and "Zoom in" features both at least
once.
Length/size: 01:36, 2.93 MB
Background song: "Costa Del Sol" from Final Fantasy
VII
Ramblings: Everything I said was completely made up
right then and there. When I said "over there" and put an arrow,
the girl handling the camera was supposed to move it that way.
You'll notice I kept on looking toward the left. That's because
like half the class was watching me do that. >_< The nervous
"yeah" accompanied with the anime-style tear drop was from real
anxiety. |

■Project 4: The
Abstract
Assignment: Create anything you want using all the
things we've learned so far.
Length/size: 02:02, 3.15 MB
Background song: "Death Volcano" from Chrono Cross
Ramblings: The general storyline is about a fairy just
minding her own business. A demon comes to attack her and she
retaliates with a meteor spell to defeat him. Although you
probably wouldn't have guessed this story since this movie
doesn't make much sense. It's entirely drawn in Title Tool. >_<
God I hate Title Tool. It doesn't even have a paint or pencil
tool, it just has a line tool, and you can only make one line
at a time! |

■Project 5: News Cast
Assignment: Record yourself making a news cast. Talk
about anything. Try to use Title Tool in more professional ways
(i.e. make a logo for the station).
Length/size: 00:39, 1.18 MB
Ramblings: Lol, this one is real funny. This was the
final project. The only thing planned ahead was I told that
middle-aged woman to pretend someone robbed her purse and fall
to the ground. =P Again, everything I said was completely made
up. Although that wasn't too hard in this case since all I'm
saying is "Oh! OH!" while trying not to touch her as if I was
trying not to get sued. XD That sound you hear at the technical
difficulties screen is a penguin. Originally I intended to
animate a penguin doing the news cast, but time didn't permit
it, so I tossed in the penguin WAV so it wouldn't go unused. The
"dun dun da dun dun dun" is the actual tune for South Florida's
Ch. 7 new's intro, in my voice. |
